Verna Louise Isnor, 95 years young, peacefully departed this world on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Upper River Valley Hospital.  Born in Freshwater, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Winters.  Verna was a master quilter and was known for her perfection in stitches and her legacy masterpieces.

Verna will be sadly missed by brother George Winters (Gloria) of Topsil, Newfoundland; sisters Susie Wilkins of Gander, and Jessie Freake of Wesleyville, also from Newfoundland; daughter Sandra Melanson (Danny); sisters-in-law Arlene Winters (Max) and Mary Winters (Walt); daughter-in-law Mary Barnes, Innisfil, Ontario.  Her beloved Grandchildren Kristie Healy (Peter Hewitt), Timothy Barnes (Jennifer), Torie Melanson; Great Grandchildren Max and Katie Healey, Hunter and Zackery Hewitt and Xavier, Alexander and Benjamin Barnes; and great-grandchild Jax Healey, all from Ontario; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Also sadly missed by Verna's special friends, Donna and John Carson, who have stood by her through good and bad times.  Words cannot express the unbounded gratitude of the family to these two wonderful Christians.

In addition to Verna's late parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Herb Barnes; her beloved husband Harold Isnor; son Robert Barnes; daughter Caroline Barnes; grandson Jason Melanson; brothers Max, Roland (Ula) and Walter; sister Lena Rogers (Eric); brothers-in-law Sam Wilkins and Bill Freake; nephews Wayne and Roy Winters, Randy Freake; nieces Angela Winters and Vicki Broderick.

Verna was one who touched everyone's hearts when you met her.  Her smile, sparkling brown eyes and graceful demeanour lifted everyone that came into her path, and her sense of humour and laughter was infectious. Right up to her last days, she continued to start the day by combing her beautiful white hair, put on her make-up, picked out her jewellery and the brightest coloured outfits ready to bring a smile to the faces that she met that day.   She lived her life with full gratitude for the blessings that came to her and she loved her Lord.  She knew He would be calling someday and was ready to respond to His call.

Verna had an infamous statement that she would say to ones she communicated with each day, even strangers…that was 'Love you don't you know', and in response grandchildren and others would respond…' Love you too'.

Rest well sweetheart.

Verna will lie to rest with her husband Hal, in Saint John.  There will be no public visitation or service, however, anyone wishing to express condolences to the family or make a donation in memory of Verna can be made through Scott's Funeral Home to the HEART FOUNDATION or to the charity of the donor's choice.
