SHEILA CLOWES BRYANT

November 10, 2017 at Carleton Manor.

Sheila was born March 29, 1924 in Blantyre, Scotland, the daughter of Earnest and Irene (Bairnson) Scott. She served with the British Territorial Services (Women's Army Corps) during WWII, and was married to Merrill Eugene Clowes, a Sargent with the 1st Canadian Paratroop Battalion in 1944. Sheila was able to come to Woodstock, with their daughter Shirley in 1946. A son, Allen, was born in 1948. Merrill passed away on August 23, 1963.

Sheila married James Bryant in 1972. James passed away in 1974.

Sheila was an assistant to her friend Muriel Lewis teaching a class for children with learning disabilities at St. Lukes Church. Sheila, enjoying the work so much, took courses in this field in Toronto, Halifax, and Fredericton. She loved the boys and girls she worked with and enjoyed each day at what was originally called the Peter Pan School, and later the Muriel Lewis School. She said that the School was given great support through committees and the people of Woodstock and district.

After her retirement in 1984 she spent many happy hours in her beautiful garden. Sheila loved her family and their gatherings. She often said how blessed she felt to be Canadian and to live in beautiful New Brunswick.

Sheila is survived by her daughter Shirley (Roger) Melanson, and son Allen (Jacquey) Clowes, step sons David (Jennifer) Bryant, and Danny (Sandra) Bryant, along with Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home 815 Main Street, Woodstock with Visitation on Sunday from 2-4 pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 2 pm from the St. Lukes Anglican Church.
