Obituary

It is with much sadness that the family of Royce Marie (nee McFate) of Woodstock, N.B. announce her passing on October 2, 2024, at her residence after a brief illness at the age of 86.

Royce was born in Saint John, N.B. on April 23, 1938, to Etta (nee Kallar) and Roy McFate of Golden Grove, N.B.  Royce is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Andrew) of Woodstock, sons, Darin (Amy) of Dieppe and Douglas (Julie) of Woodstock. her grandchildren Colby, Sarah, Jessica, Keaton, and Madylin, her great grandchildren, Iyona and Mason, and two sister-in-laws, Dianne (Tom) and Lorraine. Royce was predeceased by her husband, Robert Brown, two sons, Terry and Gerard, and brother-in-law Leroy (Bud) Brown.

Royce was heavily involved in sports throughout her life. She served on the executive of the local and provincial Ladies Curling Association. She was the treasurer of the N.B. Senior Baseball League. She was a curler at the Woodstock Curling Rink when it was on Water Street and then continued to curl when it became an addition to the Woodstock Golf Club. Royce was also an avid golfer and could brag that she even had a Hole in one.

Anyone who knew Royce personally, knew that she was a giver. She gave of her time, money, and culinary skills just to name a few ways in she gave of herself. There are countless people who were recipients of her generosity.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB with visiting hours on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm.  Funeral Service will be held at Scott Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 5 at 11:00 with Rev. Canon Walter Williams officiating. If so desired, donations can be made to the Debec Animal Shelter.

As many of you know, we just laid our brother, Terry, to rest. We had decided to forgo a reception for Terry because of the fragile health of our mother. We have decided to have a reception to celebrate both their lives following the interment of Royce at the Woodstock Rural Cemetery. It will be held at St. Luke's Church Hall.
