Randolph Murchie Brown's Obituary
Randolph Murchie Brown of Canterbury, N.B. passed away on March 24, 2017 at Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 89.He was the son of the late Dr. Leigh and Irma (Jones) Brown. He was predeceased by sister Erica and brothers Llewellyn and Robert.
Randolph was predeceased by his first wife of 52 years, Joli Janvary . He is survived by their four children, Michael, Zoltan, Mac ( Marie-Josee Naim ) and Laura ( Michael Charlton ) and by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In 2006 Randolph married Mary Ann ( Brooks ) Thornton. He is survived by Mary Ann and step children Bill (Jody) Thornton, Nancy ( Ken) Thornton-Smyth, Sally ( Dick ) Keilty, Janette (Dak) Conklin and by nine step grandchildren.
Randolph graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Pharmacy in 1959. In 1961 he was hired as the first full time staff Pharmacist at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, Ontario. He later became Assistant Administrator.
In 1967 the family moved to Woodstock where Randolph became the Administrator for the Carleton Memorial Hospital, until he retired in 1995.From 1985 to 1995 Randolph also worked as a Pharmacist at Newnham and Slipp.
In 2015 Randolph was awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Town of Woodstock for "Exemplary service in healthcare as Administrator of Carleton Memorial Hospital and as a highly respected pharmacist in the community."
His sense of humour and sincere compassion for others will be sadly missed. A special thank you to the nursing staff of 2 East at Upper River Valley Hospital and to Dr. Roseanne Goodine for their care and kindness.
Resting at the Scott Funeral Home 815 Main Street Woodstock N.B. with visitation on Thursday, March 30th,2017 from 10 A.M.-11:30 A.M. at the Scott Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark's United Church, Canterbury, NB at 2:30 P.M. With reception to follow.
Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's United Church, Canterbury or to a charity of your choice.
What we keep in memory is ours forever.
