Peter Mertes died on May 31, 2007 near Hargrave, Manitoba, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Peter had moved recently from Mainburg, Germany to Woodstock to begin a career with AYR Motor Express, but had been driving in Europe since 1979. Peter was glad to be living in Canada, and was looking forward to his new career. He was 49 years old. Peter is survived by his wife, Nicole; his daughter, Yvonne, and his son, Florian. Visiting will be at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, on Friday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 PM from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill Brennan will be officiating. Burial will be in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
