ADAMS, NEIL JOHN: It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that we announce his passing.

Neil (b Oct. 10, 1935 – d Apr. 18, 2026) was born in Essex, Ontario, son of Mary Melinda (Ulch) and Prosper Adams. Long time, beloved husband of Barbara Adams (née DuJohn), caring and loving Father to Karen Adams, Shelly Woods (née Adams), and loving Father-in-law to John Woods. Wonderful and loving Grandfather to Katherine (Kate), Jessica and Susan. Neil was predeceased by his five siblings – Glenn, Ralph, Dale, Keith, and his sister, Enid.

Neil, a kind and thoughtful man, served in the RCAF in France and Canada. Neil launched his post-military career in the Restaurant and Hospitality industry, working for himself and for many years with various organizations. Neil successfully ran the Irving Big Stop at Bulls Creek in Woodstock, NB, and eventually, the Big Stop in Houlton, ME, until his retirement.

Whether trips to Florida or Toronto to see family, pig roasts, camping trips, crib or euchre games, storytelling, or hanging out by the pool, Neil was “one of a kind” and full of life.

In 2003, Neil suffered a significant brain stem stroke that left him paralyzed for the remainder of his life. Accepting of his circumstances, Neil became an inspiration to all those who knew him, particularly his immediate and extended family. His love for life, grace, positive attitude, mental and physical toughness, and calm and self-effacing nature brought love and happiness to everyone around him.

A wonderful brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandpa, Neil never wallowed in self-pity for his late-life circumstances. He was an incredibly positive man. A true inspiration as to how a life should be lived. He will be deeply missed.
