Nancy Elaine Bell  of Houlton, Maine born November 17, 1944, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, ending a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Bell, mother Doris Bell, and great-nephew Sean Joyce. She is survived by her siblings, Irene Joyce of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Lawrence Bell of Glenburn, Maine, by her nieces: Déirdre Joyce (Scott) Cortland, New York, Ellen Snapko (Bill) New Hope, Minnesota, and Kathleen Heider (Todd) Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, nephews Nathan Bell (Véronique) Tracadie, New Brunswick and Ian Bell (Rubino) Toronto, Ontario, and great nieces: Ailee, Maeve, Clare, Kéira, Sage and Brigid.

Nancy had a deep love of books, singing, music, and teaching. She worked in many different libraries including the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.. She had a variety of musical talents and sang in the choir at the National Cathedral where she had a brush with royalty when she saw Prince Charles (now King Charles). She also sang and played both piano and organ at a variety of houses of worship, including the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal in Houlton where she was a congregant for many years. She was a lifelong learner and dedicated the latter part of her life to the study of many different biblical texts and attended various Bible studies.

The family wishes to thank her care team at Houlton Regional Hospital and the staff and hospice nurses at Madigan Estates for their kindness and care of Nancy in her last days.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB

The funeral service will be held at the Scott Funeral Home Chapel on May 4, 2024, at 11 am.

Nancy will be buried at St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery, Jackson Falls, NB. near her parents. Memorials preferred to St Mark's in Jackson Falls in lieu of flowers.
