POITRAS, Mildred (Betty) Elizabeth - died peacefully at her home in Lower Woodstock on August 9, 2011 with her family close by.

Betty was born on June 11, 1933 in Debec, NB. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson, and great-grandson, Brian Byford.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen (Kingston, ON) and Juliet (Phoenix, AZ); a son, Andrew (St Jean, QC); four grandchildren, Tracey Fox-Bartels, Geneviève Nielsen (nee Poitras), Matthew Poitras and Geoffrey Hannah as well as four great- grandchildren.


Betty spent all of her adult life in Woodstock. She had a close network of friends which will miss her good natured humour and comments.

The family expresses thanks to all who supported her desire to stay at home throughout the illness: the NB Extra-Mural team, particularly Mary Williams, staff of the Red Cross Home Care Services, and Father John and her fellow parishioners of St Gertrude's parish.

Funeral was held on August 13, 2011 from the St. Gertrude's Catholic Church. Father Bill Weiss officiated with internment at the Calvary Cemetery.
