Mary Florence Dimock   – It is with great sadness and deep loss that the family of Mary Florence Dimock announces her peaceful passing at her home on March 27, 2020. Born at her parents' home in Limestone, NB on December 9, 1930, Mary was the oldest of four children of Ivor and Elsie (Bustard) Dixon.

Mary is survived by: her children, Janice E. Dimock (Blair Fry) of New River Beach, NB, Brent I. Dimock (Sharon Sharpe) of Sharp's Mountain, NB, and Andrea D. Dimock of Woodstock, NB; cherished granddaughter, Lauren M. Cummings of Woodstock, NB; siblings, Dennis Dixon (Carol) of Sherwood Park, AB and Carol Dixon of Pointe-du-Chene, NB; her nephew, Rob Furlan of Teeds Mills, NB, and nieces, Linda Christie (Kim) of Mapledale, NB, Danica Dixon of Calgary, AB, Cara Paul of Fredericton, NB, Virginia Paul (Sheldon Illsley) of Freemont, NH and Sandra Breston (Ross) of Mississauga, ON; a grandniece, Denise Grant (Brian) of Newbridge, NB and grandnephews, Justin Furlan (Megan) of Teeds Mill, NB, David Kidney of Fredericton, Taylor Kidney of Shediac Cape, NB, Ryan Breston, Milton, ON and Mark Breston, Mississauga, ON.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Furlan, her niece, Deneen Dixon, and our father, Arnold.

Mary would not want to be fussed over – in word or action – but she truly was an amazing woman who, through her generosity of spirit and velvet core of determination, left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was always a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, as well as a loyal friend. Mary will be dearly missed by family and friends.

During her 32-year co-ownership of Stiles Motel and Home Town Restaurant in Woodstock, Mary was the consummate hostess who welcomed all who walked through the front door. After a busy day, often one would find Mary on the restaurant's veranda drinking coffee and knitting while visiting with friends, both old and new. It could be said that Mary was the unofficial Ambassador to Woodstock, forever promoting the businesses, attractions, and citizens of her town.

Despite the grueling demands of the hospitality business, Mary found the time to become a St. John Ambulance volunteer, serve her Church, teach sewing, play bridge, and support a variety of community and business organizations. After her retirement in 2005, she widened her circle of interests to include Slammers' hockey games, traveling, and more hands-on volunteering. Politics always played a large part in Mary's life and led to many a spirited debate. Mary's keen wit and knowledge of current affairs served her well on more than one occasion.

It is with a long sigh of relief (and a big dollop of sadness) that Janice, Brent, Andrea, and Lauren are able to finally announce a Celebration of Life for our cherished Mother and Nana, Mary Florence (Dixon) Dimock.

The Celebration will be held at Saint James United Church, Woodstock, NB, beginning at 1:00 pm on October 1, 2022.  Rev.  Adekunle Adeniyi will be officiating. A reception, prepared by the United Church Women, will follow in the C. E. Centre.

You are cordially invited to attend. We all understand if you cannot be there – life happens.

Fortunately, Saint James is able to live-stream and you can join us there.

Over the past two and one-half years, you have shared your memories of Mary with us. Thank you for helping us to deal with our loss and to remember how to be better.

We look forward to seeing you on October 1, 2022, at 1 pm.
