Margaret Laurene Martin, the light of our lives, born June 11, 1923, went to be with her Saviour on May 27, 2022, after a brief illness. She had been residing at Carleton Manor.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Gladwyn and Sabra Wilson, brothers David (Pearl), Ronald (Florence), Clare and Leonard (Nellie) Wilson, and sister Ruth (Coburn) Patterson, long-lived siblings of whom she was the last.

Margaret is survived by and will be sadly missed by her adoring husband of 69 years, Robert Earle Martin, sons James (Kathy), Donald (Chantal), and Paul (Kristin) Martin and daughters Melodie Martin and Cindy (Wes) Corey, sister-in-law Phyllis Wilson, 11 wonderful grandchildren, one exceptional great-granddaughter and many loving nieces and nephews.

Margaret grew up on the family farm in Plymouth, playing with the lambs, riding the plow horses, picking fiddleheads and her favorite wild strawberries. After graduating from Woodstock High and graduating with the highest honors from C.C. Vocational School she entered the work world. After some time spent in Montreal, Margaret returned to NB where she met Robert while she was working as a cosmetologist at Creaghan's in Fredericton. They married in 1953 and Margaret became a homemaker, instilling her values of compassion, strength, and service into her five children, at least trying to; it couldn't have been easy.

In 1965 Marg and Bob started "The Style Shoppe" located originally in their home. Margaret always had great taste in fashion and enjoyed their buying trips to Montreal where she would purchase items with certain particular shoppers in mind. This individualized service helped keep the business successful and they retired and closed shop in1996. For years after, customers would tell Bob and Marg how much they missed the Style Shoppe.

The primary joy in Margaret's life was her relationships with her grandchildren and great grand-child. She made them all feel special, showered them with love, and baked for them.

From the age of 16, Margaret was a member of the Woodstock United Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, singing with Bob in the choir, and serving on various committees.

There was nobody that Margaret would not try to feed, even the nursing home caregivers! Margaret was funny and wise, with great insight into human nature. Her advice and guidance was always worth having as she was always found to be right!

The family's heartfelt thanks goes out to the kind, caring staff at Carleton Manor, whom Margaret regarded as true friends.

A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held Tuesday, May 31st at 2:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home Chapel,  everyone is welcome.

Rev. Craig Woodcock will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
