Leon R. Thornton of Canterbury, husband of Mary Ann (Brooks) Thornton, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, aged 82. Born in Woodstock, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Lela V. (Clark) Thornton. In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by his children Nancy Thornton-Smyth and her husband Ken of Charlottetown, William (Bill) Thornton and his wife Jody of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Sally Keilty and her husband Richard (Dick) of Kanata, ON, and Janette Conklin and her husband Dak of Charlottetown; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leon was predeceased by a brother, Gerald. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from St. Mark's United Church, Canterbury. Rev. Beverly Brazier will officiate, with interment in the Canterbury Cemetery.
