John"Jackie" Franklin Kennedy of Jacksontown born on August 16,1947 passed away peacfully with family by his side at the UVRH on December 10,2015 after struggling with illness.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Sperry and Helen Kennedy as well as his sister, Shirley Vernall, brother in law Charles Vernall and brother in law Earl Payne.

John is survived by his loving and caring companion, Leola Estabrook, who the family wishes to thank so very much for being by his side throughout his ill health. Three sons, Keith, Kevin(Rebecca) and Jeff(Yves) two grandsons, Austin and Colin, sisters Elizabeth, Anna, Margie , brother Larry, several nieces and nephews. Jackie had a strong love for horses and was a regular site around the community with his team , Ben and Jason, and not always on the right side of the road either. If you did not have time to talk horses, then Jack did not have time to listen. He had a one track mind for his favorite animal and spent hours in the barn. Hard of hearing in his later years and difficult getting to and from the barn he relied on good neighbours, Greg Swim and Stanley McLaughlin, to tend to his horses. He loved putting the horses out to pasture and would watch them graze for hours. He always had a pocket of peppermints for the horses and never offered to share with anyone else. More often than not, so anxious to get to the barn Jackie would not wear a jacket nor tie his boots. He enjoyed the company of long time friend Hal Brewer and their drives drinking coffee which often led back to the barn. Although the last several months he was unable to tend to the horses himself he never lost interest and was happy to show everyone photos of his team that he so proudly carried with him.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and Doctors at the URVH for their compassion and care as well as kind neighbours, family and friends, Raymond, Neil, Hazel, Carla, Roy, Tina and Chelsea.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street Woodstock, with visitation on Sunday from 2pm – 3pm. Funeral Service will follow at 3 pm from the Scott Chapel.
