It is with great sadness that the family of M. Joan (Holden) Margison announces her passing, which occurred on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Upper River Valley Hospital with her family at her side. Joan was born in 1933 in Shelburne County to Harley Campbell Holden and B. Jean (Bower) Holden. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Malcolm E. Margison, to whom she was married for 46 years, and her sisters Patricia and Audrey.

Joan was a registered nurse, practicing in Halifax and Shelburne. She was also a skilled and avid bridge player, and a talented baker and cook. Countless people have enjoyed the hats and mittens she donated to schools, neighbours, friends, and family. She knitted booties for cancer patients and hundreds of dolls for children in disaster zones; her creations have been sent around the world.

Joan is survived by five children, Kimberley Joanne Brkich (Michael Brkich) of Delta, BC; Andrew Malcolm Margison (Tracey Margison) of Halifax, NS; Dr. Judith Ann Margison (Dr. Emery Hyslop-Margison) of Fredericton, NB; Eric Allan Margison of Lakeville, NB; and Peter Jordan Margison of Halifax, NS; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Meredith, Anthony, Chelsea, Shauna, Mitchell, Ashleigh, and Caitlin; three great-grandchildren, Carson, Benson, and Zoey; and her siblings Albert, Murray, Garth, Constance, Vivian, and Harley. She will be fondly missed and remembered by all for her keen wit, laughter, and boundless generosity.

Joan is resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB.

Grave Side Service will be held at 11 am, on  Friday April 30, 2021 at  the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
