Janice Marie DeLong
March 3, 1940 – April 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Janice Marie DeLong of Canterbury, NB, announces her peaceful passing on April 3, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on March 3, 1940, in St. George, NB, Janice was the beloved daughter of the late Walter Smith and Maude (Mailet) Smith, and stepdaughter of the late Charles Fraser. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Aubrey Lloyd DeLong, and her brother David (Carol) Smith of Edmonton, AB.
Janice will be deeply missed by her children: Kevin (Rhonda) DeLong, Kim (Tom) Lundy, Tina (David) Byers, and Todd (Michelle) DeLong; her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer (Rob), Cassidy (Shelldon), Samantha, Taylor, Michael (Rebekah), Caitlyn (David), Emily, Kayla, and Jasmine; and her eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Wallace Smith and Ronald Smith, and her precious great-granddaughter Kallie Byers.
A true snowbird at heart, Janice and Aubrey spent many joyful winters at their vacation home in Florida, always returning with bags full of thoughtful gifts for their children and grandchildren. Her generosity was unmatched, and her greatest joy came from spending time surrounded by family.
Countless fond memories were made at the family home on Second Eel River Lake—boating, soaking up the sunshine, and sharing laughter in the warmth of her presence. Janice had a deep love for the sun, yard sales, puzzles, reading, and collecting tiny trinkets that told little stories of her life and adventures.
She shared a special bond with her best friends Vicki and Nicole, with whom she spent many happy hours completing puzzles and enjoying each other's company.
Though small in stature, standing just 5 feet tall, Janice had a fiery spirit that filled every room. She brought passion, humor, and light wherever she went, and her vibrant energy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was a woman of deep love, boundless generosity, and fierce devotion. Her legacy will be carried forward by the many lives she touched. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB.
There will be no, visitation or funeral Service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
