Jacob McCormack; Born in Woodstock, NB on September 26, 2001 at 7:37 am, a miracle, Jacob Edward, was given to Jennifer McBride and Ronnie McCormack.

Jacob brought such amazing joy to his family and to all who had the chance to meet him. From an early age he showed a great interest in all things, especially those with wheels, and could often be found with a car in hand. Jacob enjoyed being a "mama's boy" and Grampy's, "little man", but with the arrival of his little sister, Sarah Elizabeth, he soon took on a new role of that of a protective older brother. There never was a brother who loved his sister more!

At the age of six Jacob was diagnosed with Leukemia (IWK Halifax). Despite the devastating news, Jacob faced his battle with determination and courage far beyond his years. For two years Jacob fought the fight, without complaining and lived, for the most part, the life of a typical 8 year old. After a successful bone marrow transplant (SickKids Toronto), Jacob was finally cancer free. A huge sigh of relief was had and many tears of joy were shed! For the next five years, Jacob lead a perfect life, developed into a handsome young man, and returned to school( Fort McMurray, Alberta) where he met and made many wonderful friends. He was living and loving life to the fullest.

In May of 2015, Jacob became ill and once again, the unthinkable had happened, the cancer had returned. As before, Jacob would need a bone marrow transplant, and like before, he faced it head on. Armed with his favorite trucks and trains, Jacob and his family headed to Edmonton (Stollery Hospital) to get the job done. Jacob was quickly brought into remission, but not before he experienced many complications. However, Jacob was soon ready for his second bone marrow transplant. November, 2015 Jacob met his new team of doctors at the Alberta Children's Hospital, in Calgary, and his second chance of life was given. Unfortunately, Jacob once again experienced complications but, this time more severe. In January, 2016 Jacob and his family learned that due to certain medications he was taking, post transplant, another type of cancer had invaded his body. Incredibly undaunted by the news, Jacob rolled up his sleeves and set out once again to beat it. The process for a third bone marrow transplant was put into place. Despite spending days and months on end in a hospital bed, countless appointments, needles, and complications, Jacob's attitude and spirit did not waiver. Jacob knew what needed to be done and he did it, without complaining or self pity.

On September 2, Jacob received his third transplant with his whole family by his side. Such hope was felt by his family, with thoughts that perhaps this transplant was the one that would allow Jacob to live the life he wanted. However, his body was tired and weakened by complications and the family was told that an infection had entered Jacob's body. An infection that could not be cured, due to his weakened state.

September 6th, at 12:00 pm, Jacob with dignity and grace, left this world as he came into it, peacefully. We take solace in knowing that Jacob fought so hard and won his battle, beating three types of cancer, four times. Jacob was so much more than the "boy with cancer". He was a loving son, a protective older brother, best grandson ever, and the most awesome nephew in the world. He will be missed beyond words.

Jacob went to heaven surrounded by his loving parents; Jennifer McBride and Ronald McCormack, sister, Sarah McCormack, Grandparents; Ethel and Terry McBride, Aunt Cynthia McBride (Marco Durepos) and Dexter (his furry little pal). Many special thoughts for numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teachers (Amy and Tammy aka Taminator) and doctors (Bruce, Conrad, Victor, Tony, Greg, Danya) and nurses( Carol, Ellen) social workers (Wendy and Jenny) and specialists across Canada. Thank you for being with Jacob throughout his journey of 8 years. We are forever grateful for the amazing care he received.

As requested by Jacob, there will be no funeral or visitation. A celebration of life, organized by Jacob's special friend Patye, will be held on September 26, 2016 (6pm )at the Richmond Corner (New Brunswick) Rec Center. Close family and friends are welcome to celebrate Jacob's life.
