Irene Victoria (Moorcroft) Beers of Elmwood died peacefully in the early hours of December 9, 2022, at the age of 80.

Irene trained as a Registered Nursing Assistant in Saint John, NB.  She worked at the Oshawa General Hospital in Ontario and then the Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. She was well-suited to the work of caring for others and took on the same role with family and friends.

After retiring, Irene spent time hosting anyone who dropped in for coffee and a chat, being convinced to take road trips, creating gardens out of tangled bushes while enjoying the dragonflies and hummingbirds, and making her much-loved pickles and baked goods.

The word that often comes up when people speak of Irene is "sweetheart".  Family can also speak to her stubborn side and how fiercely she protected her loved ones.

Irene was also known as Aunt Rene, Reenie, and Nana Beers.  She expressed delight and good humor when grandchildren landed on "the Old Fart" as a term of endearment.

Irene is survived by: her two boys, Darren (Colleen) and Calvin (Marnie); grandchildren Andrea, Greg (Angie), Natasha (Adam), Matt (Lara), Morgan (Shaun), Lukas, and Logan; great-grandchildren Hanna, Luka, Winston, and Walter; siblings Myrna, Mary, Alton, and Eldon; and her beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews.

Irene was predeceased by: her parents Mona and Victor Moorcroft; sisters Tootie, Linda, and Hazel; nieces Lesley and Tammy; nephew Ronnie.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 main street, Woodstock, NB.

Celebration of Life is planned for April 8, 2023, at the Richmond Corner Rec Center from 11 am - 2 pm.
