The peaceful passing of Harriett Maxine (Gray) Tapley occurred on Monday, July 21, 2025 at The Upper River Valley Hospital.  Harriett (93) was born to the late Herbert and Velma (Troy) Gray.

She is survived by one son Larry (Carole) Tapley of Newbridge and two daughters, Laura (David) Hood of East Grand Lake and Lois, of Northampton; grandchildren David (Genice), Stephanie (Paul), Tristan (Debbie), Erin (Brandon), Sean (Martine), Erika (David); 5 great-grandchildren Kiera, Kalina, Kaelyn, Archer and Dahlia; one sister Jean Clampitt (Gray), and nieces and nephews. Hariett was predeceased by her husband Frederick (Bud) Tapley, one son Eric Tapley; daughter in-law, Natalie Tapley; one sister Ada and 4 brothers George, Charles, James, Robert.

At the time of Harriett's passing, she was living at the same farm homestead she was born on, November 23, 1931. Harriett, Bud and Lois moved back to the land many years later after Bud forgot one of their wedding anniversaries and purchased a piece back as a gift.

Before she married Bud in 1950, Harriett worked as a soda jerk and a telephone operator. With a waste-not, want-not attitude Harriet opened a consignment store. Passionate about children while raising her own, she and Bud were foster parents to newborn babies awaiting adoption.

Harriett enjoyed the outdoors gardening, tending the animals, camping, driving a 'wheelie' or snowmobile. When she was inside, she was baking, reading or painting, and always with music.

Her home was always open to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she and Lois always enjoyed visiting with.

Resting at the  Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street Woodstock, NB.  A Private visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, 10 am at Grafton Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the Kirk Cemetery, Northampton, NB.

In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Kirk Cemetery, the Grafton Baptist Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
