KNOX, Gwendolyn Kathryn. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gwendolyn Kathryn (Haynes) Knox, of Woodstock, NB, on November 17, 2014 at the age of 86 years, following her battle with Pleural Mesothelioma (Asbestos Lung Disease).

She was born in Perth Andover, NB on September 6th, 1928, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Beatrice (MacIntosh) Haynes. Predeceased by her first husband, Murray John Clarke, and siblings Flora Swanson (Harry), Buddy Haynes (Veronica), Perley Haynes (Margaret), Ernest Haynes (Eileen), Ruby Bourgoyne (Fred), Alton Haynes (Helen), Floyd Haynes (Margaret), William Haynes (Rowena), infant brothers Claire Haynes and Douglas Haynes, stepsons StevenKnox (Diane) and Perry Knox.

She is lovingly survived by husband Paul Knox, son Ronald Clarke (Linda) of Guelph, ON., daughters Shelia Daly (Richard) of Winnipeg, MB., Valerie Stanger (Patrick) of Winnipeg,MB., Deborah Hackenschmidt (Joseph) of Guelph, ON., Linda Demchuk (Kevin) of White City, SK., Susan Findlater (Dwayne) of Rothesay, NB., Mary-Lee of Ottawa, ON., sister Shirley Sawler (Eric) of Lantz, NS., stepsons Stuart Knox (Brenda) of Millville, NB. and Charles Knox (Merna) of Fredericton, NB. and her many grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces, and nephews.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home 815 Main Street Woodstock with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 2 pm from the Wesleyan Church in Jacksonville, NB. Rev. Dale MacDonald officiating with internment in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.

In her early years Gwen was employed by the Carnation Foods of Manitoba, CANEX CFB Shilo, MB., Hillcrest Nursing Home, Brandon MB., Metropolitan Store, Canadian Tire, and the original Carleton Manor in Woodstock, NB.

Along with raising her own children, Gwen helped bring up many children of various ages under the Children's Aid Society of Manitoba. Gwen was active in community services including, Saint John Ambulance Services, ANAVETS (Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans in Canada) and the Salvation Army. She was an activist for the Widows on the Warpath following her first husband's premature death due to exposure to Agent Orange at CFB Gagetown, NB. She loved painting and quilting, and was able to donate eleven quilts to the HOPE House mission in the Ukraine as well as many to family and friends. She was a member of the Woodstock Wesleyan Church and was an avid supporter of the Village of Hope, Upper Tracey, NB.

Gwen was known for her adventures and enjoyed four wheeling on the trails between Centerville and McAdam with special friends Sterling, Mary, Wilfred and Betty and she spent many happy days at 'The Camp' on the original Clarke family homestead in Oakville, NB.
