Obituary

With heavy hearts and much sadness Gordon Charles Spires passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Upper River Valley Hospital on December 21st, 2025 at the age of 76 . Gordon was born July 31st 1949 in Fredericton New Brunswick. He was the son of Arthur and Edith (MacDonald) Spires.

Gordon is survived by his beloved daughter Carrie (Richard), beloved son Scott (Sandra), and granddaughters Emma and Morgan. Brother Wayne (Bev) and family. Besides his parents Gordon was predeceased by his wife Mavis (Drost) of 53 years. Brothers Tom, Maurice and sister Jacqueline and his well loved animals Lady and Betty. Gordon was a devoted member of the St. Luke's Anglican Church, performing many duty's including lay reading, acolytes, and services at the church. He was a sales man for Aiton Drug company Ltd for many years. Throughout the years he made many friends from travelling the province of New Brunswick. Gordon was a very devoted dad and grandfather. His granddaughters Emma and Morgan were his pride and joy doing everything he could possibly do for them. Gordon lived his life with a very loving heart and would do anything for anyone. Gordon enjoyed gatherings with his family especially during Christmas. After numerous health challenges and great faith in the Lord he never gave up.

Visitations will be held Saturday January 10th, 2026 at the St. Luke's hall from 10:30 am to 11:45 am. Funeral service to follow at 12pm from St. Luke's Anglican Church. The Ven. Canon Maria Shepheradson will be officiating. A burial to follow at the Lenentine Cemetery located in Southampton NB. The honourable pallbearers are, Richard Monteith, Cody Lantz, Cody English, Vincent Flewelling, Mark McIntosh, and Joe Sullivan.

The family would like to give special thanks to Integrity Home Care Workers that  cared for Gordon while living at home, and the staff at the UVRH. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Gordon can be to the River Valley Cancer Support Group or of donors choice.
