At home and surrounded by his family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Allan Stairs, 78, of Meductic, on September 24, 2015.
Fred was born on November 3rd, 1936, in Lower Southampton, York County, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late Ralph and Mildred (Davidson) Stairs, and he spent his early childhood on Pike Hill before settling in Meductic at the age of 12. Fred drove truck in his early years and, following the death of his son, Dana, obtained his welding licence. He founded his construction company, Stairs Building Ltd., in 1976.
Fred loved Dodge trucks, his Ford tractor, and gardening. The two loves of his life were his wife, Alice, and his dog, Angel. He truly appreciated his good friends.
Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years; Alice (Delong) Stairs, his children:Terry; Rhonda ( David) Alward; Cynthia; and Randall (Rhonda). He is also survived by: his sister, Alice MacFarlane; his grandchildren, Trent Rideout, Jonathan (Shubhi Singh) Alward, Benjamin Alward, Cassandra (Aaron Bedard) Stairs, and Justin Stairs; his great granddaughter, Makayla Rideout; and many neices and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by:his parents; his son, Dana; brother, Bertrum; sisters, Irma Stairs, Marie Williams, and Louise Lenentine.
At Fred's request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the Meductic Community Centre and led by Pastor Dale Greer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lower Meductic Cemetery or the Meductic Fire Department.
