Floyd Vernon Saunders of Grafton, NB passed away at St. John Regional Hospital on March 13, 2015 at the age of 77.

He was born at Hartfield Corner, NB March 29, 1937, the son of Russell and Effie (Grass) Saunders. He is survived by his wife Ethel (Hagerman) of 58 years, children, Valerie (Danny) Bell, Connie Frenette, Darlene (John) Monteith, Brent (Karla) Saunders, Kelly Saunders Morgan (David), grandchildren, Meghan Bell-Hingley (Tracy), Jewel McLatchy (Matthew), Ryan Frenette (Christie), Jessica Hill (Adam), Bethany, Hiliary & Hannah Monteith, Emily Atherton (Ben), Sarah Saunders, Dexter Christie (Shelby), Karissa Christie, Caitlin & Paige Morgan, and great-grandchild Connor Christie.

Survived by sister Inez Jones (Bob), brothers Lewis Saunders (Bonnie) and Lorne Saunders (Sandra), brother-in-law Karl Dore Jr., sister-in-law Phyllis Mooers, and several nieces and nephews.
Floyd is predeceased by daughter Gloria Starr, Father & Mother Russell & Effie (Grass) Saunders, mother-in-law Mabel (Pond) Hagerman, brother-in-laws Merlin Mooers and Bill Wright, sister-in-law Shirley (Hagerman) Dore.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street Woodstock, NB with visitation on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm from the Grafton Baptist Church. Pastor Brent Clark Officiating assisted by Rev. Charles Thompson, Rev Harry Waugh and Rev Jerry Horseman.

Floyd was a dedicated employee of NB Power for 29 years. He has owned and operated his own businesses, Floyd Saunders Construction and Rentals, and Saunders Electric Ltd.

Floyd believed in serving his community, in his younger years he was a St. John Ambulance attendant, he was a hockey coach, and a Scout leader. Floyd also believed strongly in serving the Lord; he was an Awana Commander, led King's Kids, taught Adult Sunday School, and served on many boards as Deacon, trustee, and member of the Region 1 working committee and the Home Mission Board for the Convention of the Atlantic Baptist Churches. He was as well a pivotal member of the group that started the Grafton Baptist Church. He believed strongly in sharing his faith, and lived helping and doing for others.

Floyd loved life and people especially his wife and family; he enjoyed making others laugh, gathering with friends and family, he loved camping, boating, spending time at First Eel River Lake, fishing and hunting.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grafton Baptist Church, Shiktehawk Bible Camp, or World Vision.
