Eric Charles
Briggs
Apr 15, 1927 — Sep 8, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Eric Briggs announces his passing on September 8th, 2018 at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock. Eric was born on April 15, 1927 in Woodstock. He was the eldest son of the late Fred and Stella (Lindsay) Briggs of Oakville.
Eric is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Mary. Eric holds a special place in the hearts of his three children, Brian Briggs, Robert Briggs and Lisa Johnston as well as his son-in-law, Trevor. Eric and Mary have four grandchildren, Charles and Maggie Briggs, Michael and Mallory Thomas. Eric is survived by a sister, Marion McIntosh and her husband Alison of Clarkville, N.B. and a brother, Weldon Briggs and his wife Audrey of Oakville, Ontario.
Eric is pre-deceased by two sisters, Irma Oliver and Wanda Winslow, as well as one brother Neil Briggs.
Eric was a potato farmer all of his life. He enjoyed being outside working in the fields and being his own boss. He enjoyed music and dancing and you could hear him singing or humming while on the tractor. He loved campfires, eating lobster dipped in butter and sitting in the gazebo, smoking a cigar and listening to the waterfalls.
The family would like to send a special Thank-You to all the staff at the Carleton Manor for the special care and love Dad received over the past seven years. Our hearts have been touched by all the kindness.
