Elva Esther Hall of Woodstock passed away at Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the age of 88. Born in Weston, she was the daughter of the late Frank Harley and Idella May (Kidney) Carpenter. Elva was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Elva is survived by one son, Sheldon Hall of Woodstock; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Hall; eight sisters, Anna Bell, Mildred Melvin, Leota Newman, Lena Carpenter, Velma Rideout, Glenna McBride, Ruth Cheney, and Stella Briggs; and three brothers, Carleton Carpenter, Jasper Carpenter, and Archie Carpenter. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, with visiting on Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 :00 pm from the Scott Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Dale MacDonald will be officiating, with interment in the United Church Cemetery, McKenzie Corner.
