Elizabeth Mary Spencer
October 3rd, 1933- November 23rd 2024

Elizabeth Mary Spencer (Hunter) passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital, on November 23rd, 2024. Born in Hayesville, NB on October 3rd, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Susan Hunter.

Along with her parents, Elizabeth is predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Dell Richard Spencer, cherished son Larry Graham Spencer (Rosalyn) and siblings Helen Bruce, Doris Doak, Blaine Hunter, Percy Hunter, and Garth Hunter.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Kirk Spencer (Tammy), and Delight Ross, grandchildren, Anita Spencer, Richard Spencer, Amber Flowers (Justin), Dedreanna Dionne (Kris), Benjamin Williams (Tyana), great grandchildren Emma Spencer, and Mason Drost, and siblings Bertie Hunter of Fredericton, and Stanley Hunter (Joy) of Yoho Lake. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, friends, and anyone who was lucky enough to encounter her light in this life.

In the early fifties, Elizabeth moved to Peterborough,

ON with her husband Dell and son Larry. There, they had two more children and spent many enjoyable years raising their family, before moving back home to Boiestown, NB.

Elizabeth spent many years working as a nanny in Fredericton, NB and often recounted fond memories of the children she took care of. She also helped run the country store that she and Dell created in Boiestown, along with their hunting and fishing camp on the Miramichi River.

In 2011, Elizabeth and Dell moved to Woodstock, NB to be closer to their children. Here, she met many wonderful people through church, and looked forward to attending service every Sunday.

An avid reader, Elizabeth has lived thousands of lives through the books that she's read. She was never without a novel at arm's reach, and she enjoyed trading them with friends and family.

A true green thumb, Elizabeth was an expert gardener, and plant whisperer. She enjoyed showing off her flower garden to everyone who visited, and she never met a plant she couldn't propagate. Her house plants all had names, including her favourite plant, Zelda, whose clippings will lovingly live on in the homes of friends and family for generations to come.

Elizabeth loved a sweet treat, especially mint chocolate, and enjoyed baking for her family. Some of her favourite and most remembered recipes are for scotcheroos, chocolate chip cookies, macaroons, peanut butter cake, chocolate cupcakes, sugar donuts, chocolate pie, and lemon pie.

A real life Snow White, Elizabeth often found herself unexpectedly taking care of many animals over the years, who would find comfort and safety at her doorstep.

She had many roles throughout her life, but her favourite was mother and grandmother. Elizabeth brought endless love, laughter, and fun into the lives of her children and grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her witty sense of humour, her infectious laugh, and her strong and admirable sense of morality. As Elizabeth would often be heard saying "it's nice to be nice."

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB, with Visitation on Wednesday, Nov 27, 2024 from 12 noon - 2 pm

Funeral Service will begin at 2 pm, at the Scott Funeral Home Chapel.

Salvation Army, Rev. Angel Sandoval will be officiating, with interment in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
