THORNTON, Edith Mae - of Woodstock passed away at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the age of 81.

Born at Bloomfield, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Olan and Eva Mae (MacLeary) Crandlemire. Edith is survived by four sons, John Thornton (Terri Ann) of Bloomfield, James Thornton (Gail) of Saint John, Jeff Thornton of Cape Breton, and Jerry Thornton (Kerri) of Woodstock; three daughters, Joan Rees of Debec, Joyce Thornton of Woodstock, and Janet Wheelan (Irvine) of Woodstock; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Edith was  pre-deceased by her husband Wetmore Thornton, her sister Iva Dow and son- inlaw Danny Rees.

Funeral service was held on January 17, 2011 from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Greg Williams officiated, with interment in the Bloomfield United Church Cemetery.
