The passing of Edith Eliza McCormack occurred peacefully at the Carleton Manor on July 22, 2026. She was born February 22, 1937, to the late Herber and Cecelia Carr in Bath, NB. She later moved to Ontario to become a nanny, and this is where she met her future husband, Robert.

Mom was widowed at the young age of 37 and raised 8 children on her own. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren dearly.

Mom was well known for her love of card playing, bingo, knitting, and making huge family meals. If you could see over the table and hold the cards, you were taught many card games and spent many hours playing the games she loved. Mom was also well known to many as Speedy Edie, getting up many nights to cook for the boys so no one went hungry after some late-night visits. Mom’s knitted socks were a favourite to many. If you showed up and had cold feet, you picked some socks out of the bin to make sure you were warm.

Mom leaves behind so many who loved her. She is survived by her children Brenda Leighton of Benton, Robert McCormack jr of Woodstock, Ronnie McCormack of Fort McMurray, Donny McCormack  ( Carrie-Anne) of Debec, Frank McCormack ( Beth) of Stickney, Bonnie McCormack of Canterbury, and Robyn Stafford of Fredericton. Daughters-in-law: Crystal Speer ( Jeff), Elaine Graham-McCormack

Her grandchildren Chad, Jeff ( Alisha ) Matthew, Melinda, Robert, Nerissa, Kate ( Jeff ), Samantha ( Kyle), Jesse ( Makenna ), Amanda ( Tim ) Sarah, Jeffery ( Ben ), Brandon ( Samantha), Patrick ( Bri ), Colin, Ben, Rebecca ( John), Hillary ( Sean ), Isaac ( Eva ), Charlotte, Chris, Brad, Emily ( Duncan), Danny ( Jenna ), Devon ( Ashley)

33 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren

Mom was predeceased by her husband Robert and one son Danny. 3 grandsons Jerry, Christopher and Jacob.

We have lost the anchor to our family.

Resting at Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB.

There will be a private family burial held in Debec at the Catholic Church Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow on August 1st, 2026, at the Connell Park Campground, 2 pm – 4 pm.
