Charles Edward Polchies (Chuck, Uncle Tom), 94 of Woodstock First Nation, Woodstock NB, Canada was called up by his maker on May 31, 2017 at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville NB, Canada with his Daughters and dear friends at his side.
Charles was born on May 31, 1923 in Woodstock NB to Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Agnes Polchies. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Rita Inez (Quigley) Polchies, Daughters Linda, twin Daughters Donna DaEira and Debra Ruggio, siblings, George, Nancy, Frank, Mary Jane, Joseph Leo (Uncle King), Annie Sacobie, Oliver, Patrick, Michael, Roberta Tomah, and his dear friend Eva Gilchrist.
He is survived by his Daughters, Sheila Rupprecht (Bob) of Ridgway PA, Coleen Sonnenfeld (Otto) of South Paris ME, and Diane Scott (Geoff) of Trumbull CT. He is also survived by many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and Others for whom he had great affection and finally, his beloved dog Queenie.
He is a veteran of WW2 serving in the Canadian Army in the European theater for which he received all pertinent medals and awards.
In 1950, He and Rita moved to Bridgeport CT and 1986 they moved back to Woodstock NB where they enjoyed retirement.
His favorite things were caring for his dog, bingo, cribbage, playing cards and watching ice hockey on TV.
Reception will commence at the Woodstock First Nation Chapel on June 3, 2017 at 2:30 PM with the feast immediately following at the gymnasium. Interment will be private.
Funeral arrangements are by direction of Scott Funeral Home, Woodstock NB.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Woodstock First Nation Health Center.
Tom's favorite saying was "take the bitter with the sweet."
