(Lessie) Carolyn Darrow was born into a farming family in rural Alabama on July 26, 1929.  Along with her four sisters, she learned the value of family, frugality, and hard work.  Despite growing up in a deeply segregated South, her parents taught her respect for every person, a quality that defined her entire life.  She married our Dad, Albert Henry (deceased 1988), and was a loving wife and mother to our family.  Always passionate for the care of the less fortunate, she passed on her legacy of compassion to her children.  Her door was always open for family, friends, travelers, and those in need.  Her generosity was inspiring, and her laughter contagious.

A quote on the wall in her home captures her southern roots and gracious hospitality:

Front porches are wide and words are long

Someone's heart is always being blessed

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  But most of all she was a great lover of Jesus, displaying the goodness of His grace wherever she went.  She left a lasting legacy of faith, hope, and love that will be felt for generations to come.

She passed away peacefully at her home in Northampton, NB, Canada on February 7, 2026 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by four of her children: Saralee, John (Ann), James (Freedom) and Peter (Elisabeth); Sisters Sue Cochran, Nell King, and Becky Gibson (Tony) ; 23 grandchildren,18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Now there is joy in heaven as she is welcomed to her eternal home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026 at 2 pm at Grace Alliance Fellowship, Statesville, NC.
