It is with sadness that we share the passing of our dad, Burton Weir. He was born on May 6, 1934, and raised in the state of Maine, and in spite of a long and full life, he retained a little of that classic Maine accent. As a young man, he served in the Navy and worked in the family furniture business. He was known for his attention to detail and precision in his work. He moved to New Hampshire, where he married our mom, Barbie. Together, they raised six sons.

After the boys were grown, Burt and Barbie moved to the Philippines to serve at the Valley Cathedral Children’s Home. This became one of their greatest missions in life: loving God and sharing His goodness with others, particularly those less fortunate than themselves. They served with all their hearts, giving generously of their time and resources. When they returned to Canada, they left behind a large family in the Philippines.

Burt was a faithful follower of Christ and lived his life with quiet conviction. We remember his gentle spirit, his heart for missions, his impeccable tidiness, and many other little things that touched our hearts and increased our love for him.

Dad passed away at his home in Northampton, NB, on May 16, 2026, exactly eleven years after our mom. He was ready to go, and we are certain they are celebrating together. “Gone to be with Jesus”

He is survived by five of his sons (Terry having passed in 2023), Jeffrey (Joy), Brian (Jenny), Gregory (Joy), Matthew (Iryna), Benjamin (Grace), sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous chosen children. He will be missed by many others who loved and knew him.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who helped us through this closing chapter of his life.
