The family of Boyd Walter Sobey of Woodstock, New Brunswick, are saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 at the age of 83.

Boyd was born November 6th, 1939 in Maple Glen, New Brunswick to Walter and Ina Sobey.  Growing up as part of a large family living on a farm instilled a strong work ethic in Boyd that he would carry with him throughout his entire life.  He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in November 1957 where he served aboard the HMCS Bonaventure until his honorable discharge in May 1960.  Boyd had a long and successful career as an engineer that spanned almost five decades.  Through hard work and determination, he quickly rose through the ranks of CBI, Bechtel and Snelson before co-founding CPM and ultimately retiring in 2003.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Boyd. Among his many passions were gardening, curling, golfing, stamp and coin collecting, listening to live music, and watching his beloved Toronto Blue Jays. Above everything else he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his dearest granddaughter, Grace.  Boyd was known for his easygoing nature, kind heart, and willingness to always lend a helping hand.

Boyd was predeceased by: his parents, Walter and Ina Sobey; his siblings Donna, Iona, Eleanor, Audrey, Ruth, Vance, Wendell, and George.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Joan; his children Kathy Pope (Greg), William Sobey (Sandy), and Corina Sobey all of Ontario and Jennifer Beecher (Steve) of Maine.

A celebration of Boyd's life will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home located at 815 Maine Street Woodstock New Brunswick.
